Double Eagle Indoor Golf
Double Eagle Indoor Golf owner: Ronnie Dennis
For Ronnie, the journey to business ownership was shaped early on. Growing up in Prince Edward Island, he worked at his father’s motorsports dealership, Dennis Motors in Ellerslie, where he gained firsthand experience in what it takes to run a successful business. Later, his career took him into the aviation industry, where he was involved in numerous complex projects - including launching a brand-new operation in Nairobi, Kenya. These diverse experiences gave Ronnie the confidence and skills to take a bold leap into entrepreneurship.
That leap became Double Eagle Indoor Golf, Ronnie’s first business venture. Inspired by both cutting-edge technology and a clear community need, the idea for Double Eagle began to take shape when Ronnie noticed a growing buzz around indoor golf - including during his time out West. "Everyone kept talking about how much we needed indoor golf," he recalls, "but no one was doing it, especially in Summerside." Ronnie returned home and turned the talk into action.
The name Double Eagle is more than just catchy - it’s a nod to one of the rarest and most impressive achievements in golf, scoring three under par on a single hole. Ronnie felt the name captured the spirit of excellence and fun he wanted his space to offer.
At its core, Double Eagle Indoor Golf is more than a business - it's a place where people come together. Ronnie measures success not just in numbers, but in smiles. “It’s amazing to see families, couples, and even non-golfers walk through our doors and have a great time,” he says. “Golf can be intimidating, but here it’s relaxed, social, and fun.” The state-of-the-art simulators provide a technical edge too, allowing serious golfers to fine-tune their skills with metrics like swing speed, ball spin, launch angle, and more - all on over 1,700 virtual courses worldwide.
During peak season - especially the winter months - Double Eagle sees around 25 to 30 clients a day. Whether it’s work teams bonding over a virtual round, friends catching up, or individuals focused on their game, the concept of indoor golf allows for everyone to enjoy themselves in a pressure free environment.
Like many entrepreneurs, Ronnie faced challenges - none bigger than the early days of COVID-19. "We had to shut down completely for two weeks," he recalls. “But the spacing between our golf bays actually helped us reopen safely and meet all the guidelines.” With other recreational venues closed, Double Eagle became a safe and welcoming outlet for people to socialize and stay active during the pandemic.
One of Ronnie’s favorite aspects of owning the business is seeing how it supports the growth of golf, especially among youth. Through initiatives like the Junior Program, The First Tee Program, and the popular TGL (Tomorrow’s Golf League), Double Eagle is helping a new generation embrace the game - often through the simulation technology that makes it so accessible and engaging.
For Ronnie, it isn’t just about business. It’s about creating a space where people feel welcome, where the game of golf becomes more accessible, and where a community can come together - no matter the weather.
Ronnie credits CBDC Central PEI with playing a crucial role in getting his business off the ground. “CBDC was very flexible - they moved things along and provided lots of information,” he says. “I liked that they were willing to do things differently. Flexible payments - that’s a big advantage.” CBDC’s support made it possible to cover essential startup costs, including equipment and operational setup.
Looking ahead, Ronnie is exploring opportunities for expansion. The demand is there, and he believes Double Eagle Indoor Golf can grow to serve even more communities.
